Where Our Ideas Come From, Part 2

Since Show and Tell is out this month, I’m going to have a little contest. I’ll choose one winner from among those who post to this blog today, and you’ll win an autographed copy of The Fortune Hunter, the prequel to Show and Tell. So don’t just browse, be sure to comment and you’ll be entered. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you won!

In my last blog, I promised to tell you where I got the idea for Trinity Green’s story in Show and Tell.

A friend told me about a small incident that occurred while he was on a business trip. At the end of a long day, he arrived at his hotel, checked in, and was on the way to his room. As he was passing a closed door, he heard noises. A woman. She was obviously feeling pretty darn good at that particular moment, and very expressive about it, too. In relating this story, he added that it was kinda funny, because he couldn’t hear the man at all. My answer, maybe she was by herself. Duh! He laughed--that hadn’t even occurred to him--and told me I should use the tale in a book sometime. It just happened to be perfect for Show and Tell. And that’s how Trinity met her hero, Scott Sinclair. Naughty, naughty Trinity. Naughty Scotty.

You can read about this meeting in the new excerpt for Show and Tell up on my website: http://www.skullybuzz.com/home.html

I’m doing several blogs this week and offering other chances to win. A little later today, I’ll be on Simply Romance Reviews http://simplyromancereviews.blogspot.com/. And tomorrow I’ll be at Romance Reviews Today http://www.romrevtoday.blogspot.com/ and Magical Musings http://magicalmusings.com/. Stop on by and visit. I’ll be talking about how life is like a septic tank. Yes, you read that correctly! So don’t miss out on that bit of philosophy.

Jasmine Haynes, Show and Tell, In Stores now!
Unlaced coming Dec 2, 2008, also with Berkley’s hotter-than-hot-writers, Jaci Burton, Joey Hill and Denise Rossetti
Fair Game coming April 2008 (Sequel to The Fortune Hunter and Show and Tell)
Don’t miss your chance to win lots of books in my current month’s contest. I’m giving away 4 books to each of 3 winners! Check out how to enter at http://www.skullybuzz.com/contest.html

Thank you, Crystal. I'm so glad you dropped by. And I'm very happy you like the cover. It's a scene right out of the book, and my editor chose it.

Scotty and Trinity show and tell what; I want to find out so enter me.
Women can be having fun and a good time when no man is present, lol.

Thanks for checking out my septic 101 blog as well, Cheri! And I'm glad the book sounds delicious.

Thanks, all, I'm glad you like the covers and find the story idea interesting. You know, nothing like THAT ever happens to me. But at least people are willing to share their stories!

And yep, Robyn, women can have fun without men! But they can have lots of fun with them, too. As Trinity finds out.

Be sure to check back tomorrow morning to find out the winner.

Thanks, Estella and Cherie! i"m glad you like the sound of Show and Tell. And yes, there are just a whole bunch of REAL situations out there to use in stories. They do say that life is stranger than fiction, and I do believe that's true!

Thanks for visiting the septic blog, Estella!

Hi Jasmine,
Very funny story and it's great how you used it in your story.

Thanks, Maureen. You know, there's a use for everything in writing, even the most humiliating story about yourself!
